Bluestone (basalt) is dense, hard-wearing and modern. Honed or sawn bluestone reads as architectural, it is the go-to for driveways paired with a rendered contemporary front elevation, and it will absorb a decade of hard use without complaint.

Concrete pavers, done well, are the value play. Modern large-format concrete pavers give the visual weight of stone with predictable colour and tighter unit cost, and they are the honest answer when the budget needs to stretch further than natural stone will allow. Granite setts and porcelain pavers round out the palette when a job calls for them.
