How much does stonework cost per lineal metre?
Dry-stack sandstone $600-1200/lineal metre. Dressed sandstone walls $800-1500/lineal metre. Feature cladding $300-600/m².
How long does a stonework wall take?
Small feature walls (under 10m long, under 1m high) 1-2 weeks. Medium retaining walls 2-4 weeks. Large dressed stone projects 6-12 weeks.
Do I need approval for a stone retaining wall?
Any retaining wall over 600mm generally needs council approval or Complying Development Certificate. Feature walls under 600mm may be exempt.
Dry-stack vs mortared sandstone?
Dry-stack has no visible mortar joints, reads natural. Mortared has cement joints, reads formal. Dry-stack is generally more expensive.
Where does your sandstone come from?
Wherever possible, Sydney sandstone from local quarries. Same geology as the rocks under Sydney, ages consistently.
Can you match existing stonework?
Yes, usually. We assess the existing stone at site visit and source matching material where possible.
